Saturday's Sprouting

Look at how much the beans grew today?! We took the first photo at 930am and the second photo at 530pm. Isn't that so cool!

Our first watermelon of the season... I always think of Gran when I eat watermelon. Not sure why though...

Planting our garden...

... city gardening... We carefully selected everything we wanted to plant this year. Lots of different kinds of flowers, carrots, lettuce, green beans, zucchini and pumpkins. Plus some creeping vines with red flowers on them. Keep your fingers crossed that it won't get too hot or too rainy so they'll all grow!

Sleeping Beauty

Mark and I came upstairs last night to go to bed and found Nina like this... Hannah (who was still up!) had had her light on to read and Nina needed it dark to go to sleep. I have to say, I'm impressed that we didn't hear lots of complaining from either camp and were pleased they'd found a mutually acceptable solution :)

Amanda Goes Greek

Amanda and I went out last night to her induction into the International Honor Society for Nurses (Sigma Theta Tau). She has worked so hard at Emory that it was good to see some recognition for all the late nights, the early clinicals and the reams of papers. The girls and I are really proud and looking forward to graduation on May 12th!

Oh, and on a purely personal note - the snacks at the reception afterwards were really very good, especially the jalapeno chili cream cheese wraps (sounds gross, right? but they were tasty - I had nine) .

Going To Stone Mountain

We have a huge granite outcropping near us called Stone Mountain (probably because it's a mountain, made of... ummm...stone - they don't get very imaginative in the naming department here in Atlanta). I'm taking the girls there for a picnic lunch today - I'll post pics when I get back.

Update - Wow - we had a great time - a mile and half to the top of the mountain and a mile and half back down again. It was windy but beautiful. We packed snacks and stopped at Publix for sandwiches on the way to eat for lunch. Check out the view from the top! You can see downtown Atlanta in the background. Click on any of the pictures to make them bigger!

Frozen Custard at Rita's

Oh my goodness, we went out to run some errands yesterday and Hannah and Nina were really good, so we stopped at Rita's Frozen Custard Shop for a reward for a job well done. It was good. No... it was not just good, it was REALLY good.

We also stopped by five guys burgers and fries for lunch - freshly formed burgers, fresh salad and hand cut fries from real potatoes and an endless supply of peanuts - it was a good day. Here are some photos of our calorie packed day and our attempts to run off the calories at the playground afterwards.
